After checking in at your host hotel, travel to Das Dutchman Essenhaus, where Kitchen Manager Connie Bowers shares fun
facts and insider tips for preparing the restaurant’s famous homemade noodles. Sit down to a bountiful family-style dinner
with all the traditional Amish favorites then choose a hands-on craft activity or shopping in the Essenhaus Village Shops.


Morning
Enjoy a leisurely breakfast at your hotel then board the bus for a Brown Bag Tour of Amish Country. A step-on guide leads
the way to Amish owned countryside shops where each shopper receives a special gift. The scenic Patchwork Quilt Country
Inn hosts lunch with a bountiful buffet and award-winning desserts.

Afternoon and Evening

Take a guided tour of Amish Acres, the only Amish farm on the National Register of Historic Places, then browse their specialty shops and sit down to a traditional Threshers style dinner in the beautifully appointed hand-hewn barn. Top off the evening at the historic Round Barn Theatre offering a full repertoire of Broadway-style musicals throughout the year. A
popular favorite--Plain and Fancy, the story of Amish life and love.



Morning

Shop ‘til you drop at more than 95 specialty shops in Shipshewana’s quaint downtown shopping district. The Shipshewana Flea Market--the Midwest’s largest--offers bargains on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Weekly antique auctions provide a not-tobe-missed flurry of activity as 11 auctioneers simultaneously offer up a variety of antique treasures. Enjoy lunch at the Flea Market or one of Shipshewana’s cozy downtown eateries.


Morning

A short drive to the neighboring city of South Bend takes you back in time. The new Studebaker National Museum chronicles the automaker’s successful rise with interactive, visually-appealing exhibits. Afterward, tour historic Copshaholm, the Oliver Mansion’s elegantly decorated rooms filled with original works. Next door, at the Northern Indiana Center for History, the Voyages Gallery traces Northern Indiana heritage from early settlement to the present. Following your tours, head to historic Tippecanoe Place, once the Studebaker family home, which provides the perfect setting for a delicious lunch.


Afternoon

Time for a visit to the campus of the famous Fightin’ Irish of Notre Dame with an up-close and personal look at campus landmarks including the Golden Dome, the Basilica of the Sacred Heart and our Lady of Lourdes Grotto provided by a student guide. Then, tempt your sweet tooth on “The Inside Scoop” tour hosted by the South Bend Chocolate Company at their factory outlet and manufacturing facility.


Evening

Back in Amish Country, a traditional Amish haystack dinner is in store at Amish Acres, in Nappanee. First Love, a group of Amish yodelers, performs their unique and lively brand of entertainment.

Before leaving the area, take time to explore Amish Country’s newest attraction - The American Countryside Farmers Market. The 51,000+-square-foot barn is the largest hand-pegged timber building in the nation! Nearly 500 vendor booths showcase locally grown produce, handmade crafts and homemade foods.
