A Tiny Treasure

A single stop light marks the center of this charming enclave, a close-knit collection of small shops and family-owned businesses.  Explore a bit and you’ll discover some unique finds – like Grandma’s Pantry – and a dozen others like it on Wakarusa’s “Waky” walk.  Just ask a local for details.

Past Perfect
Signs of the past are everywhere, from the tin ceilings at Yoder Brothers Antiques to the town’s two historical museums (open by chance or appointment).  Wakarusa Hardware has been selling items from its “wall of 1,000 drawers” since 1904. Sweets lovers can choose from over 300 nostalgic candies at Wakarusa’s Dime Store, serving customers for 103 years.

Special in any Season

The annual Maple Syrup Festival welcomes spring, the Antique Car Show and Memorial Park’s perennial garden are popular favorites in the summer and an autumn drive under Waterford Street’s sugar maples leads to the towering pumpkin tree. Christmas lights under a December snow provide a scene right out of a Courier & Ives print.
