Come hungry and allow plenty of time to explore when you visit one of Elkhart County’s newest destinations. Snacking on homegrown fruits, cheeses, barbecue, pie and many other tempting treats is part of the fun as you browse the booths of hundreds of vendors. The second floor is filled with talented artisans and gift shops. All this bounty is within and around the Amish-built, 51,450-square-foot timber-pegged Farmers Market barn. The barn features its own state-of-the-art test kitchen for on-going scheduled cooking shows. The dining court serves up delicious regional and international fare.
2010 Quilt Garden
Giant Dahlia 44W X 45H
The Quilt Garden at the American Countryside Farmers Market is one of the larger gardens on the tour, very appropriate as it sits beside the Midwest’s largest Amish built barn. Thinking big is a theme for this site whether it’s produce or flowers, big and beautiful is what you’ll get. This year the Giant Dahlia Garden is carpeted with almost 6,000 annuals. Bringing this pattern alive is a lively variety of annual favorites. Here you will see Ageratum, Salvia, Petunia, Dusty Miller and Alyssum all come together to form a beautiful blue dahlia.
