At Martin’s Quilt Shop near Nappanee, quilts and fabrics fill a shed that once housed carriages. Like many area handicrafts and woodworking shops, Martin’s is in the rural countryside. Besides traditional crafts, contemporary art—from painting to jewelry—flourishes in Amish Country. Browse Art Matters gallery and watch a sculptor and crafters work at the Old Bag Factory in Goshen. This 35-mile tour begins in Nappanee at Borkholder Dutch Village, housing 300 arts and crafts vendors, then angles northeast to Shipshewana, home to numerous artisans.
