America was formed in 1970, while founding members Dewey Bunnell, Dan Peek and Gerry Beckley were living in London as American students, the sons of U.S. Air Force members who were stationed at a U.S. Air Force base near London. They quickly harmonized their way to the top of the charts on the strength of their signature song “A Horse With No Name.” America became a global household name and paved the way with an impressive string of hits following the success of their first #1 single. Other singles included “Ventura Highway”, “I Need You”, “Don’t Cross The River”, “Sister Golden Hair”, “Tin Man”, “Sand Man”, “Lonely People”, “You Can Do Magic” and “Daisy Jane”. Forty plus years later, these friends are still making music together, touring the world, and thrilling audiences with their timeless sound. The most recent America concert in this area was a sold out show in 2003 at Saint Patrick’s Park in South Bend.
