Elkhart County Parks Celebrates with 50 Year Festival
The Elkhart County Parks is excited to announce it is celebrating 50 years of preservation, recreation, and education.
In honor of this milestone, Elkhart County Parks is hosting a free 50 Year Festival on Sunday, August 20, from 1:00 – 5:00 p.m. at Ox Bow Park. The Parks department invites the community to this family oriented, fun-filled celebration to say thank you for 50 wonderful years. Visitors will enjoy free cupcakes while listening to live music from local Spanish rock band, Lalo Cura, on the Ox Bow Tower from 2:30 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. Families will enjoy lawn games, a t-shirt tie-dying station, crafts, prizes, live hawks and owls, atlatl throwing, a touch-a-truck area, and a portable rock climbing wall! Local clubs will be demonstrating RC modeling, disc golf, and kayaking. Displays will showcase highlights from the past 50 years of the parks. Limited-edition commemorative parks-themed soaps, made locally by the Soapy Gnome of Goshen, will also be available for purchase. Local food trucks will be selling a variety of delicious fare, so visitors should come hungry. There truly is something for everyone at this celebratory extravaganza!
Admission to this event is free, which includes entry to Ox Bow Park.
