Groovin’ in the Gardens at Wellfiled Botanic Gardens

Live music provides the soundtrack to magical evenings at Wellfield Botanic Gardens at our summer concert series presented by Center for Hospice Care. The concert lineup features an eclectic assortment of jazz, contemporary, classic rock, R&B, country, indie-pop, Americana, folk and “blue-eyed soul” performed live by popular artists of our region and beyond. Gates open at 6 p.m., concerts begin at 7; get your space on the event lawn or under the event tent early and stroll the beautiful garden trails while listening to nature’s symphony before enjoying the concerts as the sun sets. Fresh food items may be purchased from Matterhorn Catering or bring your own picnic dinner to enjoy during the concert.

 

June 21 – **DOUBLE-HEADER** To kickoff the Elkhart Jazz Festival, Wellfield has partnered with Jazz Fest organizers for a musical double-header featuring both Bloodest Saxaphone – a dapper Japanese jazz sextet, and the Huntertones a high energy, horn-driven sound, fusing inspired improvisation and adventurous composition that melds jazz, funk, rock, and soul! You won’t want to miss this pairing – – 2 concerts in 1! Tonight’s food pairing: That Guy’s Barbecue Ribs

June 28 – Darryl Buchanan’s Soul & Motown Revue – Performing for over 30 years, Darryl Buchanan has toured with legendary groups including The Temptations, Fred Wesley of the JB’s, and the Motown Revue. He has also performed on NBC’s Saturday Night Live and even a Presidential Inaugural Ball. Darryl’s smooth vocal style, explosive bass and guitar solos are always a crowd pleaser, likening artists such as Smokey Robinson and Al Green.

July 5 – Lalo Cura – A rock band based in Goshen, IN, Lalo Cura has developed a unique sound that combines every musical genre that has influenced each member of the group.

July 12 – Q Sonics – The musicians’ influences are various, but the sum is an amazing sound that is blues based , with heavy influences of rock, soul, and funk.

July 19 – Whistle Pigs – Contemporary, Classic Rock, Jazz, Rhythm and Blues – The Whistle Pigs are a smokin’ hot seven-piece dance band that’ll have you moving!

July 26 – Marty & The Martinizers represent the “rock edge of folk rock.” Expanding on The Byrds, Springsteen, Larry Norman, Dan Fogelberg, Bob Dylan and John Mellencamp, Marty forges new roads into rock’s human side while maintaining roots in the American folk tradition.

August 2 – May Erlewine Trio

August 9 – Paul Decker & The Real Deal – Performing together for over two decades, bringing their own style of Jazz, Rock, Pop, and Standards to Michiana. From Louie Armstrong to Motown, Steely Dan to Joe Cocker (you may even get a polka, you just never know), they’re sure to bring a smile to your face.

August 16 – John Primer – Two-time Grammy-nominated artist, American blues legend, bandleader and lead guitarist for Muddy Waters, Willie Dixon, Magic Slim & The Teardrops, John Primer’s virtuosity as a blues musician was forged by legends. “YOU CAN’T PAINT THE BLUES WITHOUT THE PRIMER!”

August 23 – Nora Jane Struthers & The Party Line – Singer-songwriter based in Nashville, Tennessee, notable for her critically acclaimed Americana and roots rock.
