Polar Express Experience at the NYCCR

Do you believe? This magical 1 1/2 hour presentation will take children on a guided tour through the New York Central train museum where Santa’s elves will be dancing and playing among the exhibits. Children will see an interactive display of a Mohawk steam locomotive with bell, whistle and throttle sounds and a large railroad layout with working O Gauge model trains.

Conductor Jim will then call All Aboard for passengers to enter the 1937 observation car where they will experience the family classic The Polar Express. Mrs. Claus will read The Polar Express followed by Santa’s grand entrance. Everyone will enjoy watching the Hot Chocolate dancers perform to “Hot Hot Hot” then share cookies and hot chocolate with Santa while Christmas caroling with Santa’s elves.

Our train does NOT leave the station like some other Polar Express events offer. We are very lucky to have the New York Central Train Museum that teaches about Elkhart’s rich history with trains and transportation. So instead of leaving the station, children get to have a hands on experience of what a train is like.

At the end of the 1 1/2 hour presentation, Santa gives all children a special gift – a bell from his sleigh- and a small goody bag.
