The Gateway Mile

Downtown fun…meet up with friends at an outdoor café or a microbrewery, tour one (or all five!) museums, take a fun and informative guided walking tour, check out the NIBCO Water & Ice Park. They’re all close and connected through the Garden, RiverWalk and A&E Districts along Elkhart’s Gateway Mile.

EAT dessert first with strawberry champagne cupcakes or salted caramel cookies from SugaRush, in a bistro-like setting with a dry-aged rib eye at 523 Tap & Grill, at a shaded outdoor table set with ahi tuna and some chilled Riesling at McCarthy’s on the RiverWalk, or sip some suds at Iechyd da Brewing Co.

SHOP local artistic works at Arts on Main, for platters and plates with a French country feel at b on the River, for contemporary fashions in a retro setting at Stephenson’s.

PLAY surrounded by sculpture and water at Wellfield Botanic Gardens, from an orchestra seat at the historic Lerner Theatre, at trivia for train buffs at the National New York Central Railroad Museum, at classic American architecture and history at Ruthmere. There’s so much more to explore along the Gateway Mile’s RiverWalk Culture Trail – for details, visit HTadventures.com and download the free app.
