Events and Entertaining Your Group
From delightful productions in historic theaters to performances in majestic venues, there’s a host of options sure to keep groups entertained.
The curtain rises on first-rate stage productions and performances at the beautifully renovated historic Lerner Theatre. Restored to its original 1920’s grandeur, the theatre also boasts state of the art improvements and offers silent movie organ performances, Broadway shows, and top name performers. Sauder Music Hall at Goshen College is also renowned for its great acoustics and great performances.
Group friendly dinner/theatre can be found in Nappanee, Middlebury and Shipshewana from April thru December each year. Amish Acres Round Barn Theatre in Nappanee delivers professional, lively musical Broadway theatre in a unique original round barn setting. As Indiana’s only repertoire theatre, groups can often times see two different Broadway classics and top hits on the back to back days of a multi night stay. The Blue Gate Theatre in Shipshewana offers two theatre venues one on-site of their restaurant features broadway style musicals originally drafted specifically for the Blue Gate from popular Amish themed romance novels while the Shipshewana Event Center is home to the Blue Gate Theatre concert and performing series featuring the best in country, southern gospel, popular and big name entertainment. Das Dutchman Essenhaus in Middlebury introduces its popular Heritage Hall presenting biblical based dramas, many originally written just for the Essenhaus.
Other group friendly entertainment options include the NEW Americana country, folk and bluegrass weekly music/buffet evening shows offered in the stunning Amish built wooden barn located at Southgate Crossing. Also NEW is an evening of “Strings & Thread” featuring the beauty of a live harp concert with a backdrop of hand-stitched quilts all brought together by local musician Anna Hagen. For a customized evening of fun add on the “toe-tapping” excitement with your groups own private performance by the Heartland Country Cloggers. For a different twist on interactive fun for groups, engage in a lively and retro Stump Trivia Quiz Show where your group divides up and competes against one another for prizes and bragging rights. If spending an evening outdoors during the summer sounds like fun, then Wellfield Gardens weekly “Groovin in the Gardens.” Add to that line-up festivals and events celebrating themes such as jazz, quilts, history, food, and storytelling and there is always fun filled entertainment available along the Heritage Trail that groups will love!
