Fiber artist Shirley A. Shenk's original designs prove that quilting isn't limited to country decor. It's a medium that can take on any style, from traditional to highly contemporary. Shirley has the uncanny ability to coax breathtakingly original works of art from the exacting traditions of one of America's most treasured folk arts.
Each quilt is individually deigned, color coordinated, hand-quilted, signed and dated. Many utilize exquisite batik fabrics with medallion or free-form concepts. All are as unique and carefully constructed as the restored 1837 two-story log cabin where Quilt Designs displays its creations.
You can select from the many original-design quilts and wall hangings that are available for immediate purchase. Or meet with Shirley in her upstairs studio to plan a special custom ensemble. Input from clients regarding color, size and design is always welcome. Guidance is given to coordinate all elements to their best advantage.
The log cabin gallery also showcases three-dimensional art from nationally recognized artists. Shoppers will discover handbags from Italian tapestries, carved walking sticks, textured jewelry and manzantia burls.
