3 Helpful Hints for Exploring Amish Country of Northern Indiana
Our destination does not have one location where the Amish live. Our Amish neighbors live throughout the countryside in area’s neighboring many of our cities and towns. The Amish own their own businesses and work in our communities. The Heritage Trail audio driving tour is the best way to see it all.
Our area is on Eastern Standard Time. Many local shops open early and often close by 5 p.m. On Sundays, all Amish owned and many other area businesses are closed. The Essenhaus campus does stay open until 8 p.m. on Saturday, and Amish Acres is open on Sunday May – December.
The Elkhart County Visitor Center is closed on Sunday. Our vestibule is open 24 hours, 7 days a week to pick up information, and you can get the Heritage Trail Audio Driving Tour at most of the area’s lodging facilities.
