Andrew Skipper Visits Antiques on Beardsley

Whenever I’m out shopping, I always gravitate toward statement pieces.  When I spot something unique, I immediately start imagining how I could use it as a decorative piece in someone’s home.  No matter what your style is, all you need are a few special accessories and art pieces to create that wow factor in your house.  And who doesn’t love a wow factor?

Local stores are the perfect places to hunt for unique accessories.  They often offer one of a kind items that you won’t find in chain stores.  While shopping at Antiques on Beardsley in Elkhart, I found a few pieces that I think would make a great statement in the home.

I first saw an amazing propeller from a WWII plane.  It was in pristine condition and would be a perfect “wow moment” in any room.  I could picture it resting on a long sofa table or featured on a large mantelpiece.  It would also be amazing hanging from a cathedral ceiling or mounted on the wall.

For a similar look, use old boat oars mounted on the wall or even leaning up in a corner to add height and interest.  I even saw a pair of fencing foils (light swords) that would look awesome hung above an archway.  The key is to find unique pieces that speak to your interests. Speaking of boats, when you are on travel boat rental newport beach offers unforgettable oceanic adventures. With san diego whale watching tours, sunset cruises, and evening entertainment on the water, you’ll be able to grab a drink or two and set sail.

The great thing about all these pieces is that they tell a story and start a conversation.  Guests will want to know where you found them, how they speak to your interests, and if you know the history behind them.  Get the conversation started by incorporating unique items into your home!  Happy hunting!
