Seven amazing August festivals in Elkhart County
There’s no such thing as dog days in August in Elkhart County, unless those dogs are jumping with joy with so many fun things to do. Here are just a few ways this month to close summer with a rush!
Aug. 3 in downtown Goshen
The monthly street festival lands this month with the theme, “Cornfest,” because, after all, this is Indiana. Play the cornhole tournaments — the divisions are “for fun” and “for glory” — and munch on all manner of corn-y snacks while soaking in the tunes from the main stage.
Aug. 2-5 at Amish Acres Historic Farm & Heritage Resort
Artisans and crafters from all over the U.S. turn this 80-acre historical landmark into a living, breathing celebration of art. Find unbelievable works in every medium, kick back and enjoy live music and sink your teeth into mouth-watering food.
Aug. 8 in downtown Elkhart
OK, there is one “Dog Day,” and that’s the theme of this month’s rendition of the art festival. Pets are welcome to join their human companions for another evening of creativity — art, music, fun activities and food!
Aug. 10-11 in East Park and Memorial Park, Middlebury
This is a slice of pure Americana. Family-friendly activities, great food and music to keep your groove on, you don’t want to miss this festival.
Thor Industries Elkhart Grand Prix
Aug. 12 in downtown Elkhart
For edge-of-your-seat action, there will be no place like downtown Elkhart’s Gateway Mile for this crowd favorite. Go-karts will careen around city streets at thrilling speeds and when they’re not racing, you can compete for cash in the cornhole tournament! A fireworks show is the cherry on top of this treat.
Bike Elkhart Quilt Gardens Ride
Aug. 18 throughout Elkhart County
At any speed, the Quilt Gardens and Elkhart County’s urban and rural vistas are gorgeous. See it all on one of several routes, starting with the 20-mile ride and going on up to 100 miles for the stout of heart. Don’t sweat the weather — there will be plenty of chances to recharge with cold drinks and snacks.
Taste of the Gardens
Aug. 26 at Wellfield Botanic Gardens, Elkhart
You’ll definitely want to stroll the gardens … after you feast on the excellent dishes from local restaurants who deliver their best for this annual foodie favorite. Or dance your dinner away with one of three bands scheduled for the main stage.
