Autumn's Arrival in Amish Country Northern Indiana
Who doesn’t love autumn? The sights, the sounds, the crispness in the air, the tastes of autumn. It just pleases the senses. Here in Amish Country we have a lot to offer this time of year. Check out our Best of Autumn Along the Heritage Trail ideas!
Our CD guided audio driving tour of the Heritage Trail is a great way to see our area and hear about its history and fun facts. In the fall, it offers the chance to see beautiful autumn scenes and trees bursting with color while cruising the countryside. Be sure to stop by one of the farm stands selling produce along the way. They’re loaded with the bounty of the fall harvest. Pick up a jug of apple cider to take home and enjoy a cup at one of our local diners serving fresh cider warm or cold, topped with cinnamon.
This year also offers something new along our Heritage Trail – the Fall Flower Carpet.
7, 000 potted mums in a block-long dazzling display! It’s the centerpiece for ten days of “Celebrate the Arts” events in downtown Elkhart’s Arts & Entertainment District that include Lerner Theatre events and performances, ArtWalk Wednesday, Elkhart Dining Days and museum exhibits. It all happens September 19-29.
These events coupled with our amazing display of mums will make a wonderful outing for anyone, any age. It is a brilliant example of some of the art and entertainment available here in Amish Country.
