It’s Time for Some Flower Power

Flower Power

The Quilt Gardens along the Heritage Trail begins May 30, and this year it’s bigger and better than ever showcasing 20 quilt gardens and 21 quilt art murals. Be sure to see the four eye-popping additions to the line-up.

A corner lot is coming up roses – actually it’s mostly begonias and petunias – as the “Beauty and the Beast Rose” garden debuts in downtown Elkhart.  Brought to you by Premier Arts, the resident theatre group for the historic Lerner Theatre, it promises to be quite a show.  The folks at Dutch Village Market in Nappanee put a new spin on “going Dutch” with their “Dutch Tulip” garden.

At Westview Florist in Elkhart, its new “Grandmother’s Flower Garden” mural is the perfect complement to the store’s product line.  The other new mural is located at Amish Acres. “Blue Bird Thing” pays tribute to “Plain & Fancy,” Amish Acres’ longest running theatrical production.

For those with a touch of anthomania (obsession with flowers) or just curious about what goes into creating snazzy gardens, download the 2014 Quilt Gardens Master Gardener Guidebook.
