Four fun ways to embrace winter and the outdoors
Open your arms wide and embrace the fun you can have in the snow in Elkhart County. Bundle up for these four adventures we’re highlighting.
We see fire and we see ice
Bask in the warmth of Goshen’s First Fridays festival on Jan. 5, 2018. You won’t believe the talents of the ice carvers. When you need a warmup, roast some marshmallows and get those fingers toasty, then wrap your mittens around the plates in the fiery food contest or a drink from the Ice Bar.
Lace up your skates
It’s a one-of-a-kind ice skating experience at the NIBCO Water and Ice Park in downtown Elkhart. Meander down the ice path along the banks of the Elkhart River and the RiverWalk. Never fear, you aren’t far from warming stations or the cozy confines of several downtown eateries.
The hills are alive
Make a day of wonderful memories with a few (or more) runs down the sledding hill at Ox Bow County Park. You can choose from the bunny hill for smaller kids or the full-size run for kids of all ages.
Slow down the pace
Get a great workout and rejoice in the winter splendor of Bonneyville Mill County Park’s woodlands. Explore the miles of trails around the park and find out why it’s favorite of cross country skiing enthusiasts. If there’s no snow, the trails are great for hiking.
