How to get to the Visitor Center in Northern Indiana Amish Country
I hear from some visitors that they had difficulty finding the Elkhart County/Amish Country Visitor Center. Follow these easy directions and you should be able to find us without problems.
If you are traveling along I-80/90, the Visitor Center is off Exit 92 located directly behind the Cracker Barrel restaurant. Just come through the light, turn into the second drive on the right side by the large Visitor Center sign.
If you are coming from the South, follow SR 19 North to the Visitor Center. (SR 19 also called Cassopolis St. up by the Visitor Center) As you travel through the city of Elkhart you will eventually see signs for I-80/90/Indiana Toll Road. When you come to the toll road entrance you will see a Cracker Barrel restaurant on the left. Turn left at the light as if going to the Cracker Barrel and then turn into the third drive on the right hand side by the large Visitors Center sign.
If you are traveling through Nappanee, you may wish to stop at the Nappanee Center, 302 W. Market St. (US 6). You can pick up the Heritage Trail audio tour and a map for the Quilt Gardens along the Heritage Trail (they have a Quilt Garden on site) and other area information at the Nappanee Center.
If traveling via US 33, follow US 33 into Elkhart. It will blend with Main Street and lead into State Road 19. Then follow State Road 19 North to the Visitor Center. If you are traveling through Goshen you can stop at the Goshen Chamber of Commerce (232 S. Main St.) to pick up a Heritage Trail Audio Driving Tour, a Travel Guide and map for the Quilt Gardens along the Heritage Trail.
Here at the Elkhart County Visitor Center, you can pick up a copy of the Heritage Trail Driving Tour and all sorts of information on area shopping, RV information, lodging and attractions plus Indiana State Guides, and Indiana maps. You’ll also meet me, Mindy, or our other Visitor Center Attendant, Mike Long. We can answer any questions you have on the area, and help you plan your visit in Amish Country of Northern Indiana. Be sure to take time and see all the quilts we have on exhibit too.
We look forward to seeing you soon!!
