Summer in Amish Country

Summer is a great time of year in Amish Country.  There is always so much to see and do.  Here are a few activities that you can only do in the summer.

I love all the water fun that we have in Amish Country during this year.  If you haven’t been to McNaughton Spray Park with the kids, you’re missing out on a lot of fun. Ideal Beach is another great place to stay cool in the summer.  You can also rent canoes and kayaks and ride down our waterways. Whenever you go to the beach, be sure to check out globosurfer.com for kayak, diving and beach equipments.

Of course, who can talk summer without talking about the Elkhart County 4-H Fair. This 9 day event is filled with concerts, animals, food and rides.  This is second largest county fair in the states, and the largest one in Indiana.  I spend at least 4 days here.

Cooks Bison Ranch is open for the summer.  Take a tour and feed the bison.  Learn about this iconic American animal.

The City of Elkhart sponsors free concerts on Tuesdays in McNaughton’s Park Band Shell.

The Elkhart River Queen gives public rides on Sundays 2 – 4 p.m. June – September.  This is a great way to travel the Upper St. Joe and see historic homes, and beautiful scenery.

So when you spend time in Amish Country, remember all the great things are to do in the summer, and add them onto your visit.  You can always find lots of ideas on our events page.
